The Binder's home serves as a restful stop for two very busy people. Buzz is the CFO of St. Mary's Hospital, while Terri serves on several volunteer boards, including the Mesa County Planning Commission, the Mesability Board, which operates Grand Valley Transit, and she serves on Ride Provide in Denver.
When Heinemann builds a prairie style home, he doesn't just pluck a Frank Lloyd Wright design a plop it into the grand valley desert. He likes to use stucco or rock like materials, as he did with the Binders, to minimize the use of wood. Because the summer sun makes a west facing patio too hot to use in the summer, he tries to design other outside living spaces that are functional in the heat. And when ever possible, he tries to take advantage of passive solar energy, to maintain the homes comfort in the cold.
